Fiction or Reality
The reason I started writing fiction is not only because of my preference for books. Although I also read other genres, fantasy has always been my favorite.
I don't just enjoy reading fiction, I would love to live in a world like that. Preferably, of course, in the world I created myself, but any other world would do too. Wouldn't it be amazing to look up at the sky and see a dragon flying by instead of a bird?
Another reason I lose myself in daydreams, and would rather stay there, is that I like my imagination better than reality.
In my imagination, I am whatever I want to be,
in my imagination, I dare to do anything,
in my imagination, I dare to talk to strangers . . .
When I brought my books to the local bookstore, I needed weeks of preparation beforehand just to be able to walk through the door. I joked with a good friend about how I would rather go back to my old minehunter, behind the weapons, war or no war, than have a conversation about my book with a stranger.
There will be a book market here where I live soon. I have the opportunity to be there as a local author, but I wonder, how badly do I want to sell my books?
Very badly, actually, but preferably through my own website, or Amazon, or Bruna, or whatever online store there is. Because in person, talking to strangers? And then talking about my fantasy world as well? I don't know if I can do that . . .
On the one hand, I am jealous of extroverted people who dare to do all of this. On the other hand, I don't mind being an introvert, because I don't have to explain how much I love losing myself in another world . . .
That, I can tell strangers about!
